Toulouse coach Justin Morgan said he was proud of his players' performance after the French side lost 56-18 to Leeds in the Challenge Cup semi-final.
"Our effort was first class. No one likes losing but our guys put in a fantastic first half and in the second we didn't give up," he told BBC Sport.
"Leeds play at a lightning pace we're not used to - they're a fantastic team.
"They're bigger, faster and stronger than some of our guys but we showed that spirit counts as well."
Toulouse's Sebastien Ragin was named man of the match, and he said their historic achievement in reaching the last four was something of which they could all be proud.
"It was a good experience for the French players to play in the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup, it was a good Challenge Cup in general," Ragin told BBC Sport.
"Leeds are the world champions, so this was a good result for Toulouse.
"We came to play a good game but we knew we only had a small chance to beat Leeds. We did a good first half and afterwards we struggled with fitness."
