The Rugby Football League have secured a new Challenge Cup sponsorship deal with Powergen. The energy company has backed the tournament throughout its three Cardiff finals and will now remain as sponsors for at least two more years.
The deal, thought to be worth around 2.5m, was announced 24 hours before tickets are put on sale for next year's return to Wembley on 26 August 2006.
Rugby league is the first sport to sell tickets for an event at new Wembley.
RFL officials are confident the new 757m national stadium will be ready for next year's showpiece and there is expected to be 71,200 tickets on sale to the general public.
"We've viewed the stadium as the rebuilding has continued and there's no doubt that it is going to be one of the best in the world," said RFL executive chairman Richard Lewis.
"We're confident that the stadium will be finished in time to host the 2006 Powergen Challenge Cup final and that it will be an incredible occasion for the game and its fans.
"We want our fans to be part of rugby league history and to be there for the sport's first big game at the new stadium."
The Challenge Cup final was first taken to Wembley in 1929 but has been "on the road" for the last six years, at Twickenham, Murrayfield (twice) and Cardiff.
