Nathan Blacklock's career looks set to take another twist with the New South Wales winger expected to return to rugby league at the end of the Super 12 season. Blacklock, who quit the 13-man code last year, was a prolific try scorer in league and joined fellow converts Mat Rogers and Lote Tuqiri in the New South Wales squad.
But he is not happy with his lack of playing time for the Waratahs and wants to be released early from his two-year contract.
Blacklock is expected to return to St George Illawarra, the club he quit last June for personal reasons.
NSW boss John McKay said that Blacklock's career with the Waratahs was not working out.
Conflict
"The simple matter is that we've got some standards guys have to live up to and if they don't meet those standards, it's better off [them] not being around," said McKay.
"You end up with conflict from both sides, so you're better off just working out what's best for everybody."
St George boss Peter Doust said that the league club would not act until Blacklock had sorted out his situation with the Waratahs.
"Once that is resolved we would be happy to talk to him," added Doust.
New South Wales are currently sixth in the Super 12 table and, with just two games left to play in the regular season, look unlikely to reach the end-of-season play-offs.
