![]() | Johns warns against complacency ![]() Australia never looked like losing the clash in Bolton Australia's man-of-the-match Andrew Johns congratulated his side on their 40-12 second Test victory over Great Britain on Saturday, but warned that the job was only half done. Australia overwhelmed Andy Farrell's men at Bolton, scoring six tries and romping into a 24-0 half-time lead. The result levels the series at 1-1, after Great Britain secured the opening Test 20-12 at Huddersfield. The home side finally responded though tries from Paul Sculthorpe and Leon Pryce, but the game was never in doubt. "We were under-prepared last week in the opening Test," Johns said.
"You could tell tonight that we didn't really need to." Johns, who scored two tries and kicked five conversions, said the victory was impressive, but they could still improve ahead of the final Test at the JJB Stadium in Wigan next weekend. "We did make some mistakes," he said. "We tend to try and throw the ball around a bit too much. "I guess I'm guilty of that - but there's so much talent in the side, sometimes we have to just back ourselves." Pryce, who dived over in the final minutes to grab Great Britain's second try, admitted that they had come off second best. "We knew that they'd come back at us after the first game," he said. "We do need to get back to the drawing board," he said," but we're still very much alive in the series." Australian stand-off Trent Barrett, meanwhile, echoed the words of Johns, but paid tribute to a superb performance. |
