Salford (0) 22 Tries: Patten, Broughton, Anderson, Jewitt Goals: Holdsworth 3 Leeds (18) 30 Tries: Hall, Bailey, McGuire, Webb, Smith Goals: Sinfield 5 Kevin Sinfield became Super League's all-time leading points scorer
Leeds saw off a spirited second-half Salford revival to further cement their place in the Super League top eight. The Rhinos looked set for an easy win after first-half tries from Ryan Hall, Ryan Bailey, and Danny McGuire. In their first home game under new coach Matt Parish, Salford rallied, running in four second-half tries. But further scores from Brent Webb and Lee Smith were supplemented by five kicks from Kevin Sinfield, who became Super League's record points scorer. A week after he became his club's all-time leading goalscorer, passing Lewis Jones' 47-year-old landmark, his Sinfield's kicks helped him overhaul Paul Deacon's tally. With Deacon not scoring in Wigan's win at Hull, Sinfield is now one ahead of the Warriors scrum-half on 2,410 points - with the prospect of a lot more to come. Leeds coach Brian McDermott has already called for the club to erect a statue in honour of the 30-year-old Rhinos skipper. Sinfield's boot helped maintain Leeds' unbeaten Super League record at The Willows as the Rhinos made it a double, having also won, 46-12, when the two sides last met back in March. Salford included Warrington-bound Stefan Ratchford despite news of his end-of-season move breaking this week. But it was Luke Patten, Jodie Broughton, Vinnie Anderson and Lee Jewitt who grabbed their four tries, Daniel Holdsworth landing three kicks. POST-MATCH REACTION Salford coach Matt Parish: "I didn't think our options in attack were great, particularly in the first half. "We butchered a number of opportunities and got caught three or four times. "We matched them most of the match but they took most of their chances. We didn't take the opportunities we should have and were probably a bit disjointed." Leeds coach Brian McDermott: "If you can break records at Leeds - given the players they have had over the decades - you are doing some special stuff. But the scary thing is that Kevin Sinfield has got another four years at least left in his career. "Salford gave it a crack. I didn't think they were great with the ball and probably dropped too many but they certainly did not ease off the gas. "I thought we defended strongly. Salford laid down a marker early and said we were not going to roll over them. They attacked our try line quite a bit and wouldn't go away."
