Rovers centre Webster has now scored six Super League tries this season

Hull Kingston Rovers responded well to two heavy defeats by romping to their best win of the season against fellow strugglers Harlequins at The Stoop.

Tries from Jake Webster and Liam Colbon helped carve out a 10-0 interval lead.

But, after Webster claimed his second try three minutes after the restart, there was no way back for Quins.

Blake Green, Clint Newton and Michael Dobson, who kicked five goals, all scored in the final 11 minutes to add extra gloss to the final scoreline.

Webster's brace of tries marked his return from three games out with a shoulder injury - during which Rovers had been well beaten by both Leeds and Warrington.

Harlequins had fit-again captain Rob Purdham back in action, coming off the bench, after nine games out with a shoulder injury.

But, despite the tonic of beating Wakefield last weekend to claim their first win in 13 Super League matches, Quins were no match for fellow strugglers Rovers, who they now trail them by three points.

POST-MATCH REACTION

Harlequins coach Rob Powell:

"It was a war of attrition - I know the scoreboard suggests it was a blow-out but it was far from that. It just came down to crucial moments and they had the stronger leaders out there to cope.

"It was a good game in the first half and it was still in the balance. The try near half-time really hurt us and we have to show more resiliency in those situations going forward. I thought Rovers had that little bit more leadership that proved the difference.

"We had a few players take knocks so we will have to think about how we approach things for the rest of the season."

Hull KR coach Justin Morgan:

"Hopefully this result can be a real catalyst for us. I would like to think we still have a chance of making a run at the play-offs. There is a lot of rugby still to be played and every game from now on is a big game for us.

"When you are in a business that is based on results there is always going to be pressure, and I have to absorb that pressure.

"We have a very proud group of players here and what pleased me most was how they responded to the recent defeats and showed a fantastic attitude today."
