Menzies has crossed for five tries in 10 Super League games this season

Catalan Dragons climbed to sixth in Super League after building on last weekend's win at Wigan by beating Hull.

Despite being stung by an early Tom Briscoe try, the Dragons roared back to lead at the break with tries from Jean Philippe Baile and Damien Blanch.

Frederic Vaccari, Steve Menzies, who went the length of the field at 37, and Ian Henderson also crossed.

Sam Obst ran in the other try in Perpignan for Hull, who now slip to 11th in the Super League table.

For all the class they showed in last Friday night's stunning 47-28 triumph against champions Wigan, just five days after winning at then leaders Warrington, the in-form Catalans were claiming only their second home victory in 13 months.

And the highlight was Aussie legend Menzies lighting up the Stade Gilbert Brutus with a stunning effort that belied his 37 years to secure Dragons' fourth touchdown.

Menzies picked up the ball on his own 10-metre line before racing the length of the field to touch down in the corner.

Scott Dureau, who booted four out of five attempts at goal, capped it by succeeding with his toughest kick of the day.

As for Hull, they are tied on six points with neighbours Hull KR, both sides having won just three times this season.

Catalan Dragons coach Trent Robinson:

"You can see how the crowd enjoy themselves and get behind us like that. They were awesome for us tonight. It's the first time I've experienced a win over here and, given that reaction, I hope to experience more.

"I'm not sure I have enough vocabulary to describe how Steve Mis playing. What we're seeing from him is exactly the same as what we have seen since he made his debut all those years ago, but I think we all have to stop talking about his age - me included.

"He's an exceptional footy player and he's shown why he's one of the world's best players over the last 20 years."

Hull FC coach Richard Agar:

"Steve Menzies was a handful for us all night. He tore into our left side and caused us a lot of problems. He's certainly belying his age at the moment.

"They had pride in keeping their try-line intact during the second half and they deserve the credit.

"It was probably a tale of two halves for us. I felt that we created and had enough chances in the first half. But Catalan certainly had some chances as well and they probably kept their composure a little bit better than we did in the second half."
