Wigan beat St Helens in last season's Grand Final |
Champions Wigan must spend the first month of the new Super League season on the road after being landed with a schedule of three straight away trips. After their season-opening Millennium Magic weekend opener against St Helens at Cardiff on 12 February, Wigan must then travel to Bradford on 20 February. After being involved in World Club Challenge action the following weekend, they then go to Salford on 4 March. Their first home league date will not be until 13 March against Hull FC. Wigan were due to stage their first home league game against Castleford on the third weekend of the season, but that now clashes with the World Club Challenge clash against St George Illawarra Dragons (27 February, 1915 BST). And, following Monday's release of next season's fixtures for Super League XVI, the club are expected to announce a new date for the Cas game later in the week. The regular season is scheduled to end on Sunday, 11 September, when Bradford will be the opposition for Wakefield's final game at Belle Vue - their home for the last 132 years. The play-offs are then due to start the following Friday. Old Trafford has again been selected to host the 2011 Grand Final, which will be held on Saturday, 8 October.
