Paul made 305 appearances for Bradford Bulls

Leigh Centurions captain Robbie Paul has been ruled out of action for at least six weeks with a groin problem.

The former Bradford half-back and New Zealand international requires surgery on the injury he picked up during Leigh's 30-16 win over Widnes.

Meanwhile, Widnes centre Richard Varkulis has been charged by the Rugby Football League for a dangerous tackle on Batley full-back Johnny Campbell.

The incident occurred during Widnes' 35-16 defeat by Bulldogs on 23 May.

If found guilty, the 28-year-old utility man could face a suspension of up to three months.
