The former Hull and Leeds stand-off, who jointly holds the record for most Great Britain appearances, was dismissed two years ago after it emerged that he did not hold the correct coaching qualifications. A joint statement said: "The club wishes Garry the very best for the future and hopes that one day he will return to the game in a coaching capacity. "For someone of Garry's credentials and stature not to put anything back into the game which he served so well as a player would be a loss for the game of rugby league." Undisclosed The statement stressed that the two parties had agreed settlement terms without any admission of liability for an undisclosed sum. It added: "Garry would like to convey his thanks to the players, coaching staff and fans at the club for the support he received during his time at the club as both player and as head coach."
Reilly was passed over in favour of John Kear for the position of head coach when Huddersfield merged with Sheffield Eagles last October. Kear was sacked a fortnight ago and is taking legal advice. Schofield, 35, announced his retirement as a player last August and turned to coaching Redcar Rugby Union Club. | See also: Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Other top Rugby League stories: Links to top Rugby League stories are at the foot of the page. | |||
