Vikings warned over fan invasion

Widnes Vikings

Widnes Vikings have been given a warning after fans invaded the pitch at the end of the Northern Rail Cup final.

The Rugby Football league handed them a suspended £500 fine after finding them guilty of breaching rules on misconduct of spectators.

"The fact is that by transgressing onto the pitch the rules were broken," said Widnes chief executive Alex Bonney.

"The behaviour of a minority has brought the club into disrepute. We cannot afford this to happen again."
