Morgan's Rovers lie fourth in the table, just five points off top spot |
Hull KR inflicted more misery on St Helens a week after their shock Challenge Cup exit with an impressive win over the Super League leaders. Three Rovers tries in the first 13 minutes of the second half did the damage, Jake Webster grabbing the first and Daniel Fitzhenry bagging two more. Saints opened the scoring through James Graham but Kris Welham's converted try before the break put Rovers in front. Peter Fox also crossed for the Robins before Ade Gardner's late consolation.
Hull KR coach Justin Morgan: "The first 20 minutes of the second half the way we played was exceptionally good, but we did lose our way part way through the half. "But I could not ask much more than to be three scores ahead of St Helens for three-quarters of the second half. "We got back-to-back tries which is more classic St Helens than Hull KR but it was good to capitalise on the way we were going." St Helens coach Mick Potter: "We had our opportunities but we made too many errors. With the wind behind them in the second half Rovers really put some pressure on us. "I know our points buffer over Leeds has slipped away a little this weekend and we shall have to look at that."
