Northampton Casuals beat Norwich City, ensuring they won every game of the Conference East campaign. Casuals secured the title in their penultimate game against St Ives, and beat Norwich 30-10 on Saturday. Head coach Jo Smith told BBC Radio Northampton: "We didn't think we'd go unbeaten all season. I can't praise the team enough. "Northampton had won two games last season, and all we had wanted was to build for the future." | As soon as something goes against them, like an injury, they stand up for each other |
Matthew Derry scored a hat-trick against Norwich, in a game that also saw Alex Alying and James Desilva left the field through injury. "Blair Hartley and Matthew Derry were outstanding, and Mark Dunkley was phenomenal", added Smith. "This team really want to play for each other. As soon as something goes against them, like an injury, they stand up for each other". Casuals' next fixture is a league play-off on Saturday 8 August.
