Hodgson scored a try and kicked five goals for the Giants

Huddersfield made it seven wins in nine away games thanks to a devastating opening seven minutes at Salford.

Tries by Scott Moore, Brett Hodgson and teenager Michael Lawrence gave the Giants a 18-6 lead at half-time, with Jordan Turner going over for the hosts.

Leroy Cudjoe put the Giants further ahead on 64 minutes, but the Reds replied through John Wilshere.

Cudjoe notched his second try four minutes from time, and Stephen Wild added another at the death.

Hodgson kicked five conversions from six attempts as the Giants maintained their grip on fourth place in the Super League.

Wilshere kicked the extra points after Turner's first-half score but failed to convert his own try.

Richard Myler, the subject of speculation about his future at Salford this week, failed a fitness test before kick-off and did not play due to a heel injury.

Salford coach Shaun McRae:

"We needed to get a bit more possession and a bit more field position and it never happened.

"I thought they won a lot of those little battles we talk about.

"It's a disappointing result on the basis of a good week's training. We trained really well this week and I didn't see that performance in us."

Huddersfield coach Nathan Brown on the difference between his side's away form and their performances at home:

"If I could I'd take it back to the Galpharm with the boys.

"We were far from great but we came here to get a win and we were OK.

"It was people in key positions that weren't so good so guys in some other areas sort of rallied around and did some good stuff for us."
