Bradford (20) 36 Tries: Nero 2, Menzies 2, Rinaldi Goals: Deacon 8
Wakefield (14) 22 Tries: Gleeson 3, Snitch, Grix Goals: Brough
Bradford proved too strong for Wakefield as they recorded their first win in three Super League games. Although both sides scored five tries, Paul Deacon converted all of his side's efforts with his Wakefield counterpart Danny Brough only managing one. Chris Nero and veteran Steve Menzies both scored two tries for the home side while Julien Rinaldi added another. Sean Gleeson's first-half hat-trick was to no avail for the Wildcats with Steve Snitch and Scott Grix also scoring.
Bradford coach Steve McNamara: "I'm happy with certain aspects of our performance. We showed some real ability and scored some great tries. "It was nothing more than I expected. I believe the Bulls are just about to start in 2009. This was a step in the right direction. "We've got to fix a number of areas. We've got to stop the errors and giving penalties away for a start." Wakefield coach John Kear: "I had every confidence in Sean Gleeson and it worked out pretty well because I thought he looked sharp and deserved his hat-trick. "I still felt we had enough opportunities. Bradford were more desperate for the win and they deserved to do so. "It was a very scruffy, strange type of game which was not helped by some of the officiating."
