Whitehaven forward Taani Lavulavu has decided to quit the club and return to his native New Zealand after receiving personal abuse from some supporters. The prop signed a two-year deal in December but abuse on website forums and sections of the crowd have prompted the former Workington forward to act. "The personal abuse I was subjected to during the warm-up at Gateshead was really the final straw," he said. "After discussing the situation with family we made the decision to return." Lavulavu made four appearances for the club, scoring one try, but was sent off for a high tackle in March's 42-38 Challenge Cup defeat by Gateshead.
