Jon Wilkin finds his way blocked by Hull's Danny Tickle |
St Helens cemented their lead at the top of Super League with an emphatic win over Hull at Knowsley Road. Saints scored tries through Tony Puletua, Lee Gilmour and Jon Wilkin before Graeme Horne hit back. But Paul Wellens and Leon Pryce crossed for the hosts either side of the break to end the game as a contest. Willie Manu and Mark Calderwood also crossed for the visitors, but Kyle Eastmond (2) Chris Dean, Ade Gardner and Horne added tries for Saints.
St Helens coach Mick Potter: "It is good to see Kyle Eastmond back on the field, it is pleasing for the team. "And Tony Puletua has been getting better and better. He is a big man and he is just hard to stop. He complements our team and adds a lot of value. "I am happy with that performance given the workload everyone has had over the past two weeks. It is a good result." Hull coach Richard Agar: "We had a number of players missing from the side and an energy-sapping game on Friday against Hull KR. "We came up against a side that is running very hot. They were too strong and fast for us to handle at times. "We could have done with a full-strength side out there today, but I thought our boys showed a really good effort, there was some good endeavour.
