Championship One side Doncaster are to get major new investment from a consortium of local businesses.
The consortium have announced plans to compete for a Super League licence ahead of the 2012 season.
Dons chief executive Dave Marshall told BBC Radio Sheffield: "The investment is there to stabilise us further into the Championship and move on from there."
The three businesses that form the consortium are UK Coal, Sewell Moorhouse and Green Energy Solutions.
Marshall is particularly pleased to have UK Coal involved in rugby league again.
"UK Coal are an internationally known company and they very traditional roots in rugby league, so it's fantastic news that they are back and involved in rugby league in Doncaster," he said.
The consortium have formed an advisory board and have replaced former owner Craig Harrison.
"They will be focussed on delivering Pro Doncaster 2012 our three-year plan for the club aimed at submitting a successful Super League application in 2011 for the 2012 season," added Marshall.
Jack Shearer and Marcus Payne, of Green Energy Solutions, are part of the new advisory board.
"We are delighted to be a part of the Pro Doncaster 2012 consortium because together we are able to guarantee a consistent and stabilised funding position for Doncaster RLFC over the next three years," a statement from them read.
Group MD of Sewell Moorhouse Nigel Brewster said: "I am sure that this consortium will provide the catalyst to bringing world class sport to Doncaster, helping to boost Doncaster's growing profile and generate the local economy."
