Salford (6) 12 Tries: Myler (2) Goal: Turner, Ratchford
Wigan (22) 38 Tries: Aisncough (2), Leuluai (2), S Tomkins (2), Richards Goals: Richards 5
Salford suffered their fifth defeat in six games to remain near the foot of the table as Wigan ran in seven tries. Youngsters Shaun Ainscough and Sam Tomkins each bagged a brace of tries for the visitors as they recorded only their third win of Super League XIV. Thomas Leuluai also crossed twice for Brian Noble's side, with Pat Richards adding another, as they heaped more pressure on Reds coach Shaun McRae. Salford's tries came from half-back Richard Myler, who scored in each half.
Salford coach Shaun McRae: "We struggled with their offload, their speed at the ruck and what they did after the ruck. They are very good at that, they play this game at breakneck speed. "We have got to keep chipping away at what we are doing. I saw some signs of that but I also saw some woeful individual performances." Wigan coach Brian Noble on 19-year-olds Sam Tomkins and Shaun Ainscough: "I think they are brilliant, they are doing a good job for the team. "It is important we recognise it is not about ages, it is about what they do in the game. "We have seen some people miss out and probably a few people are scratching their heads but you have to reward that kind of performance."
