Widnes Vikings head coach Steve McCormack is targeting trophies in the 2009 campaign after seeing the club invest heavily in the squad. Vikings have signed eight new players since they missed out on a Super League franchise in July 2008. McCormack told BBC Radio Merseyside: "Steve O'Connor (Widnes owner) has invested a lot of time and money." "We would like to reward him and our supporters with a little silverware,(and) hopefully a Grand Final." McCormack believes his players are among the best he has worked with at the Stobart Stadium. "I've had quite a few squads while I've been at Widnes through one reason or another," he added. "I would say this squad, on paper, is comparable with the squad from two years ago when we went very, very well and probably should have won the competition (National League One) and that's my biggest disappointment as Widnes coach."
