Faiumu will play in Super League next season for Huddersfield |
Samoa hooker David Faiumu has been ordered to appear in court the same day his country could be fighting for a place in the World Cup semi-finals. Faiumu, who will play for Super League side Huddersfield next season, is due to attend court in Queensland on 10 November on serious assault charges. That is also the day of the semi-final qualifier on the Gold Coast. The Samoans are favourites to qualify for that game following their opening 20-12 Pool C win over Tonga at Penrith. Faiumu has been charged with grievous bodily harm following an alleged assault of a 23-year-old man in Rockhampton last November. The 25-year-old missed Friday's game due to a hamstring injury but hopes to face Ireland in the deciding group game at Parramatta Stadium next Wednesday. Leeds prop Kylie Leuluai could miss that match after being placed on report for an alleged high tackle during last night's brutal clash with Tonga, which was watched by a healthy crowd of 11,787.
