Clarke broke his arm in three places |
Warrington hooker Jon Clarke will miss the World Cup after breaking his arm in three places during his side's 46-8 defeat by Catalans Dragons. The 29-year-old Great Britain international suffered the injury during the second half of Saturday's Super League play-off tie in France. "It would have been my only chance of playing in the World Cup because I'll be too old for the next one," he said. "I'll just have to try for the Tri-Nations series next year." Clarke will have surgery to have a plate inserted in his arm and will have to spend three months recuperating. | 606: DEBATE |
He is the third player to be ruled out of England's potential World Cup squad following the loss of Bradford prop Sam Burgess and Wigan loose forward Sean O'Loughlin with shoulder injuries. The World Cup takes place in Australia from 25 October to 22 November.
