Smith says he and his family "love living in England" |
England's Australian head coach Tony Smith has become a British citizen. The 41-year-old, who has worked in English rugby league for the past eight years, attended a citizenship ceremony in his home town of Huddersfield. Smith, who doubles as the Rugby Football League technical director and has a 100% record as national coach, said: "I am both proud and honoured. "And I'm delighted to show a strong and clear commitment to this country which I've developed during my career here." He added: "I believe I have made a contribution to the sport in the UK over the last eight years and I look forward to continuing to do that for many years to come." England compete in the World Cup in October and November, in which they will meet Papua New Guinea, hosts Australia and New Zealand in their group.
