Sheffield Eagles chief executive Mark Aston has called for more former players to be brought into refereeing to raise the standards. The Eagles have become increasingly concerned about the number of decisions that have gone against them in recent National League One games. Aston told BBC Radio Sheffeld: "I think the missing link are people that have played the game. "You understand the game better if you have played it." The Eagles boss does not believe that the introduction of professional referees has had a major impact. "It's very debatable, if anything very slightly. We've still got a lot of work to do and I think the RFL know that."
