Whitehaven's unbeaten run came to an end with a 38-14 defeat away at promotion hopefuls Halifax on Sunday.

Having beaten high-flying Salford just a fortnight before Haven went into the game with confidence but Halifax were too strong throughout the match.

A first-half mauling saw the hosts run in four tries to Haven's one, that came through centre Saia Makisi.

The second-half began and ended with tries from Haven but Halifax ran in three of their own to cap the win.
