St Helens centre Steve Tyrer believes Widnes Vikings have what it takes to compete in Super League. The 19-year-old is on a month's loan at the Stobart Stadium, with a view to extending that until the end of the current season. He told BBC Radio Merseyside: "There is a big difference in the National League, skill-level and so forth. "For the intensity, power and speed it's up there and Widnes have shown they can make it in Super League." Tyrer, who has been used on the wing by St Helens, added that he is at Widnes to build some match-playing experience. "I play first-team one week [at St Helens] and then I'll not play the next or I'll play reserves for a couple of weeks. "I'm not getting decent game time but I know I'll get game time here. "I hope to get some good experience of playing against men instead of playing against boys." Widnes will find out if their application for a Super League license has been successful on 22 July.
