Tom Hemingway was Huddersfield's hero with seven goals as they turned on the style in the second half to beat Quins.

The 21-year-old came in at scrum-half because of injuries to Chris Thorman and Ryan Hudson and the suspension of Kevin Brown and Luke Robinson.

Giants found themselves 10-8 down at the break, but two tries after the restart from Jamahl Lolesi and Stuart Jones put them ahead for good.

Michael Lawrence went over in the first half, grounding a Lolesi grubber kick.

Hemingway opened the scoring in the third minute with an excellent penalty conversion from near the right touchline.

Quins hit back two minutes later when some slick handling culminated in Chad Randall sending Tony Clubb over.

Henry Paul could not convert, and Huddersfield regained the lead when Lawrence chased down Lolesi's teasing grubber.

Hemingway added the extras but the visitors hit back in the 23rd minute when replacement Karl Temata flew over after collecting a Randall off-load.

Quins' slim half-time lead soon evaporated as Hemingway added another penalty in the 44th minute.

Nine minutes later he helped orchestrate a fine move involving Lawrence which culminated in Lolesi advancing at pace from 20 metres out to cross the line.

Six minutes later the points were effectively sealed as Jones waltzed through another hole in the Harlequins rearguard or Huddersfield's third try.

Hemingway converted and maintained his 100% record with the boot with his third penalty of the afternoon soon after.

Michael Worrincy made space to squeeze over for the visitors with only minutes remaining, and Paul converted.

But Hemingway added another penalty to cap an outstanding personal display.

Huddersfield caretaker coach Paul Anderson: "I'm delighted. People thought we could potentially roll over and die, but that's not what this place is about.

"Some of the boys turned into men today and if you go through the team today - from one to 17 - then it was clear for everybody to see.

"Can we make the play-offs? You never say never. These fellas have got the bit between their teeth and we have got to go to St Helens next weekend and try and get a result."

Harlequins coach Brian McDermott: "We weren't cracking with the ball. We defended pretty well but offensively we just never clicked.

"There is no comedown from last week (when Quins beat Leeds). It's not as if we have been walking around on Cloud Nine and thinking we are the best team.

"It's a big learning curve but even so we still played poorly today."
