Sheffield Eagles chief executive Mark Aston is confident their groundshare with Rotherham United at the Don Valley Stadium will not affect his club. The Eagles final two home games in August could clash with the start of Rotherham's new season. "We've been assured that it's not going to impact on anything we are doing, which is very positive," Aston told the club's website. "We need to go ahead as planned, we don't want any disruption." Rotherham were forced to move after they failed to reach a lease agreement with the Booth family, who own their old ground Millmoor. Aston now plans to meet with Sheffield International Venues (SIV), who own Don Valley, to discuss how the groundshare will work. The Eagles supremo fears their use of the pitch could be restricted, especially for training purposes. | We've been assured that it's not going to impact on anything we are doing, which is very positive |
"SIV will probably say they want fewer sessions on the pitch but they have to come up with a suitable alternative. "Teams don't like coming to Don Valley because of the way we play here. We know every blade of grass out there. "We love training on the pitch and that's been shown in the performances but we'll be sensible, we'll work with Don Valley as we always have done. "I don't mind a bit of flexibility but the advantages of being at home is that you've trained on the pitch."
