York City Knights got their first home win of the season by beating National League 2 leaders Keighley Cougars. The Knights won 40-30 and they are now two points clear in sixth place. Knights' assistant coach James Ratcliffe told BBC Radio York: "It's fantastic. We've got the monkey off our back and we've got our first home win. "There's no better way to do it than to beat the top of the league at home and it's fantastic for the lads." Ratcliffe added: "It's even more fantastic for the supporters and, as it showed at the end, there's a desire from them to have a successful side in York. "It was really really pleasing to go over there to the supporters today and to be able to clap them. "They have been patient and hopefully we can start giving them something to clap about for the rest of the season now." | It's about being honest and the guys are putting their hands up and being honest | The Knights led for the whole of the game but Keighley fought back to within four points in the second half after trailing 34-12. Ratcliffe acknowledged there was still parts of the game that needed working on. "(Doncaster coach) Ellery Hanley's put it down that we're a 40-minute side, I'm sure (Keighley coach) Barry Eaton will be saying the same. "He's watched enough videos of us to know that we do implode and we switch off. "That's what young players do and the more they play the better at that they get and those periods of time become shorter and shorter." Ratcliffe now believes the squad can build on the result for the rest of the season. "It's about being honest and the guys are putting their hands up and being honest," he said.
