Huddersfield (20) 50 Tries: Aspinwall, Elford, Robinson, Lawrence (2), Skandalis, Cudjoe, Whaturia, Raleigh Goals: Thorman (7)
Hull KR (6) 16 Tries: Murrell, Lovegrove, Fox Goals: Cooke
Huddersfield gained revenge for Hull Kingston Rovers knocking them out of the Challenge Cup as they ran in nine tries on their way to a crushing win. Scott Murrell scored first for Rovers but Martin Aspinwall, Shane Elford and Luke Robinson hit back for the Giants. Leroy Cudjoa scored the pick of four tries in quick succession for the home side, with teenager Michael Lawrence claiming a brace. Rhys Lovegrove and Peter Fox's tries for Rovers were too late to matter.
Huddersfield coach Jon Sharp: "I believe this performance had been coming all year, we've been so close on several occasions. "We've been beaten on four occasions by less than four points and also drew a match so the indicators were there. "I know we're second from bottom but we are on a positive points difference, which shows how close we have been. "Michael Lawrence is going to be a fantastic player if the gods shine on him and he remains injury free. He's got a fantastic attitude and is very professional." Hull KR coach Justin Morgan: "It was extremely difficult to watch. We lacked effort and it was hard to stomach. I was embarrassed. "I'd like to apologise to the fans who made the effort to make the trip here. It's given us a kick up the backside. "Credit to Huddersfield, they've had a rough time of late but did a good job to turn around a one-sided result."
