Widnes Vikings have signed former Hull and Castleford second row Richard Fletcher from National League One rivals Whitehaven. The 26-year-old played under Vikings coach Steve McCormack with Scotland and has arrived in a deal part funded by fans group Vikings Quids In. Widnes have also re-signed Bradford Bulls Jason Crookes, 17, on loan for the rest of the current campaign. The centre spent time on loan at the Stobart Stadium earlier this year. "I've known Richard for four or five years and he's one of the best forwards outside of Super League," McCormack told the club's website. "I'm delighted to have him on board and am looking forward to seeing him in a Widnes jersey as soon as possible. "I'm also delighted to welcome Jason Crookes back. He made a big impression here and will be an important part of our plans for the rest of the season."
