Whitehaven are set to give Tongan international centre Saia Makisi a run-out in Wednesday's academy fixture with Cumbria Amateurs. The 25-year-old, who can also play on the wing, arrived in England on Monday from Australia's North Sydney Bears.
Coach Paul Crarey wants to look at Makisi as a potential replacement for the injured Rob Jackson in Sunday's Northern Rail Cup tie at Workington.
Makisi joined the Marras in preseason on a 12-month deal.
