The Celtic Crusaders beat Sheffield 22-12 in their Northern Rail Cup clash. The Crusaders raced into an early lead at the Don Valley Stadium as Paul Ballard and new-signing Luke Dyer both touched down in the season's opener.
Sheffield rallied with tries from Mike Roby, Grant Edwards and Danny Mills but a Tony Duggan double inspired the Welshmen to a Group Three victory.
Crusaders winger Ballard's second in the final minute for the Division One new boys sealed an important away win.
