Named as Super League's young player of the year for 2007, Burgess has made a huge impression in his maiden full season at Odsal. Regarded by many as the best prospect in the British game, enhanced when he was named man of the match in the Northern Union's clash with the All Golds.

ROB BURROW

Position: scrum-half
Age: 25
Tests: 22

A non-playing member of the 2006 Tri-Nations tour, the diminutive Leeds half-back is firm favourite for the scrum-half role after a superb season for the champions which earned him the Rhinos' player of the year award. Burrow's size makes him difficult to tackle, he is a great support player and has pace to burn.

JON CLARKE
Club: Warrington
Position: hooker
Age: 28
Tests: 0
Height: 6ft 1in
Weight: 15st 5lb
Former Wigan and London Broncos player who has proved a consistent performer for Warrington and demonstrated his versatility by excelling at loose forward and half-back during their injury-hit season. Was in the squad for the mid-season Test against France.

GARETH ELLIS
Club: Leeds

Former Wakefield man Ellis has grown in every season he has played international football. Started off as a centre but settled into the back row and often plays the full 80 minutes. Scored against New Zealand in last year's Tri-Nations and was a key man in Leeds' Grand Final triumph.

MAURIE FA'ASAVALU
Club: St Helens
Position: prop
Age: 27
Tests: 0
Height: 6ft 3in
Weight: 17st
A former Samoa international in rugby union, the St Helens star is a surprise call-up. Has got better with every season in Super League though and is a fearsome tackler and carrier of the ball. Played in the 2003 Rugby Union World Cup but qualifies for Britain through residence.

ADE GARDNER
Club: St Helens
Position: wing
Tests: 2
Age: 24
Height: 6ft 1in
Weight: 15st 4lb

MARTIN GLEESON

Tests: 17
Age: 27
Height: 6ft 1in

An established international performer, Gleeson remains one of the most effective centres in the game. Has a great strike rate, is a strong tackler and a wonderful offloader.

JAMES GRAHAM
Club: St Helens
Position: prop
Age: 22
Tests: 2
Height: 6ft 2in
Weight: 17st 3lb
Has quietly established himself as a key performer in the Saints' pack this season. Burst onto the international scene with a two-try debut against New Zealand in June 2006 but missed last year's Tri-Nations with a broken hand.

DAVID HODGSON
Club: Huddersfield
Position: wing
Tests: 3
Age: 26
Height: 6ft 1in
Weight: 14st 7lb
A former Halifax and Wigan winger who is equally at home at full-back, Hodgson was an unlucky victim of Salford's relegation. A sound goal-kicker and with pace to burn, he was a big close-season signing for Huddersfield for next season.

JAMIE JONES-BUCHANAN
Club: Leeds
Position: second row
Age: 26
Tests: 0
Height: 6ft

DANNY McGUIRE
Club: Leeds
Position: stand-off
Age: 24
Tests: 10
Height: 5ft 10in
Weight: 13st 8lb
Tony Smith's success as Leeds coach has been partly linked to the form of McGuire. Arguably the best support runner in the game, McGuire has posted over 100 top-flight tries for his club and is always hunting for an opening.

ADRIAN MORLEY
Club: Warrington
Position: prop or second row
Age: 30
Tests: 27

SEAN O'LOUGHLIN
Club: Wigan
Position: loose forward
Age: 24
Tests: 8
Height: 6ft 1in
Weight: 14st 10lb
The only Wigan representative in the squad, O'Loughlin will be hoping to earn himself a regular spot locking the scrum. The tough-tackling forward has a neat passing game and knows where the tryline is.

JAMIE PEACOCK (captain)
Club: Leeds
Position: prop
Age: 29
Tests: 23
Height: 6ft 5in
Weight: 17st 0lb
The reigning international forward of the year has been outstanding for Leeds this season. Arguably the most durable player in Super League, he can break the defensive line from anywhere and never shies away from work.

MICHAEL PLATT
Club: Bradford
Position: full-back
Tests: 0
Age: 23
Height: 6ft 1in
Weight: 14st 9lb
Former St Helens and Salford player who made his name for Castleford and also represented Ireland before being picked up 12 months ago by Bradford. Missed only four matches this year and enhanced his growing reputation as an attacking full-back with 14 tries in his first 13 appearances.

LEON PRYCE
Club: St Helens
Position: stand-off
Tests: 15
Age: 26
Height: 6ft 3in
Weight: 15st 6lb
Pryce has flourished even further since moving to St Helens and from Bradford, where he has established himself as a world-class six. Excellent hands and footwork for one so tall, he will be hoping for a pivotal role after winning the bulk of his 15 caps on the wing.

GARETH RAYNOR
Club: Hull
Position: wing
Tests: 4
Age: 29
Height: 5ft 10in
Weight: 14st 10lb
A winger of the highest pedigree, Raynor is a superb finisher and an expert at carrying the ball from deep. Likely to be a starter for coach Tony Smith after impressing in the Tri-Nations last year.

JAMES ROBY
Club: St Helens
Position: hooker
Age: 21
Tests: 5
Height: 5ft 10in
Weight: 13st 7lb
Recently crowned Super League Man of Steel for 2007, Roby is primed to take the international game by storm. His pace off the bench is an effective weapon and he has bulked up to make him a ferocious defender. Has a great rugby brain and impressed in last year's Tri-Nations.

KEITH SENIOR
Club: Leeds
Position: centre
Tests: 30
Age: 31
Height: 6ft 3in
Weight: 16st
This year Senior became the first Super League player to rack up 300 appearances and has also been on the international scene for over a decade. Still as good as ever as a support player and an excellent defender.

KEVIN SINFIELD

Age: 27
Tests: 13
Height: 6ft 1in
Weight: 15st 2lb
A polished performer at club level, Sinfield will be hoping Tony Smith can help him deliver on the world stage. A near-perfect goal kicker who can fill in at stand-off. Has good hands and is a strong defender. Man of the match in Britain's mid-season win over France.

PAUL WELLENS
Club: St Helens
Position: full-back
Tests: 17
Age: 27
Height: 6ft 1in
Weight: 15st 2lb
Established as the best full-back in the country, Wellens was Man of Steel in 2006 and slipped comfortably into the role as Lions full-back after the retirement of Kris Radlinski. A rock-solid last line of defence, he provided a new cutting edge to St Helens' attack this year with 24 tries.

STEPHEN WILD
Club: Huddersfield
Position: loose forward or centre
Age: 26
Tests: 2
Height: 6ft 1in
Weight: 15st 6lb
Wild has taken his game to new levels since joining Huddersfield from Wigan and deserves his recall. A strong runner from the back of the scrum and is quick enough to play at centre. A key player as the Giants reached the play-offs for the first time.

JON WILKIN
Club: St Helens
Position: back row
Age: 23
Tests: 4
Height: 6ft 1in
Weight: 15st 4lb

Height: 5ft 11in
Weight: 14st 9lb
Burst onto the international scene after a stunning 2006, excelling in the win over Australia. A gifted centre with great hands, Yeaman is always a threat to the line.
