Harlequins powered to a 32-18 win over Hull KR on Saturday to cement their place in Super League's top six and keep the Robins in relegation trouble.
The first half was a topsy-turvy affair with the lead changing hands several times before Chad Randall's try ensured Quins went into the break 18-12 up.
Chris Chester cut the gap for Rovers on 60 minutes, but Matt Gafa responded quickly for the home side.
And Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook's late try sealed an emphatic Quins victory.
The first points of the match, which kicked off early because of Rod Stewart's concert at Twickenham, came through Paul Cooke's penalty on seven minutes.
Michael Worrincy muscled his way over from close range to score in 10th minute for Quins but the next score, three minutes later, went to Hull KR when prop Ryan Tandy dived over.
Tyrone Smith gave Quins the lead again, only for Hull KR full-back Marl Lennon sprinted over to tie the game.
Randall restored Harlequins' lead after Henry Paul's break cut the Rovers defence open.
After the break, Quins edged further ahead on 48 minute when Paul Sykes kicked a long-range penalty.
Chester went over for Hull KR to score in the 60th minute to reduce the arrears to just two points, but Quins scored through Gafa.
And McCarthy-Scarsbrook's scored in the final seconds to leave Rovers in deep trouble just one point clear of bottom place in the table.
Hull KR coach Justin Morgan:
"We had too many errors and that cost us. Every time we made an error they scored and we can't give the ball away like that.
"We've got nine games to go and we need to win four or five of those. It's certainly possible but we've got to play better than we did here.
"There's no point being down about the result - we need to win and very quickly. We came down here and had good preparation but we didn't execute it as well as we should have down.
"I think it was a mistake-ridden game and I think Harlequins will also be upset at the error count. They capitalised on our mistakes and we didn't when they made an error and that was the difference."
Harlequins coach Brian McDermott: "I don't think it was realistic to expect a full performance. We've got four of our players out. My standards are a little bit lower than other peoples.
"Yes, we did get the result and, yes, it wasn't pretty, but to me it looked very useful.
"You've got to give a lot of the players credit, particularly Matt Gafa, who I thought was outstanding.
"He's a winger but he played 80 minutes in the forwards and not only that he was very effective."
