Halifax have parted company with head coach Tony Anderson just two games into the new LHF Healthplan National League One season. A statement on the club's website said the decision had been "taken with great difficulty".
Halifax, looking to make an instant return to Super League, have lost their opening two league games.
Former Wakefield player Brad Davis, now coaching at Villeneuve, is thought to be among the frontrunners for the job.
"Tony is a respected and successful former player whose service to the Club has been outstanding," read a Halifax statement.
"He has undertaken coaching duties for the club in the most difficult of circumstances. The club is stronger for his skilful development of young players.
"Unfortunately, recent results at first-team level have forced the hand of the board."
