The Rugby Football League have appealed for evidence to substantiate allegations of a betting scandal involving two St Helens players. The League have written to both Sean Long and Martin Gleeson advising them that they are under investigation.
The duo are alleged to have won almost 1,000 each after betting on under-strength St Helens to lose by more than nine points to Bradford.
Saints lost 54-8 at Odsal on Easter Monday after leaving out 11 regulars.
The League, who have unlimited powers to punish the players if they are found guilty, have appointed disciplinary commissioner Norman Sarsfield to lead the investigation.

St Helens have also promised to carry out their own internal inquiry and to co-operate fully with the League officials.
"We have served notice on the two St Helens players at the centre of an alleged betting scandal that they are under investigation and they will be interviewed in due course," said a League spokesman.
"We appeal to anyone with evidence they feel may be relevant to contact Norman Sarsfield at Red Hall on a fully confidential basis."
The investigation is expected to take several weeks but the players are free to play for their club in the meantime.
