Goulding will start coaching on a voluntary basis |
Former Great Britain scrum-half Bobbie Goulding has being appointed player-coach of Rochdale Hornets. The 31-year-old, who enjoyed playing spells with eight clubs, including St Helens, has agreed a 12-month contract to succeed Martin Hall.
Goulding is making his professional coaching debut and will work on a voluntary basis to start with.
"He wants to rebuild his reputation in the game and sees us a vehicle to do that. said chairman Ray Taylor.
"We're absolutely delighted."
Goulding, who has been coaching his local club Widnes St Maries, went into hospital on Tuesday for minor ankle surgery.
But he could still be in line to make his Rochdale debut in the Powergen Challenge Cup third round in January.
