Sculthorpe: We must finish the job
test hellotest
By Paul Sculthorpe
St Helens star and BBC Sport Online columnist

It is a great feeling to be in the Challenge Cup final again but all our efforts will be for nothing if we lose to Wigan at Murrayfield.

We have got to come away with the trophy to make everything worthwhile and that is what we will be going all out to do.

Wigan will be tough to beat and I am sure they will be fired up.

You can never write them off.

They may be having a tough time of it in Super League but we'll have to be at our best again if we want to retain our title.

The semi-final win over Leeds was fantastic.

I don't think the score flattered us at all. In fact, I think referee Russell Smith went easy on them at the end.

I'm not the only person who thinks that way. He penalised us five times in a row at one stage - and two of the tries he disallowed were clear tries.

It is disappointing when that happens but the main thing is we are through to the final. We are not going to start moaning.

We went in at half-time with a big lead but we were still wary that Leeds could bounce back.

Defence was the key to victory over Leeds

They can score from anywhere and have the ability to make up 20 points without any trouble.

But we kept control of the game and scored some great tries.

When both wingers score hat-tricks, the whole team deserves praise.

But it was our defence that was the big factor against Leeds and is the reason we won so handsomely.

When you can put a performance like that together, when the attack and defence is on top of its game, it is a great feeling.

Let's hope we can repeat the feat in Edinburgh on 27 April.
