Alcott had three top 20 World Cup finishes last season |
Britain's top skier Chemmy Alcott is to resume training after spending the last month recovering from a broken ankle. The 26-year-old, who flies to Austria on Saturday, suffered the injury in November while preparing for her second World Cup race of the campaign. "All I have wanted to do is get back skiing," she told BBC South East Today. "I am a bit apprehensive as my first race is in seven days time but once I get the first one out of the way, the nerves will go." Alcott underwent a physical training session in the gym in front of her doctors on Friday before having a final scan on the ankle. "The race is in Maribor in Slovenia, where I had my best World Cup result last season so I am feeling really positive," she added. The ankle injury disrupted her preparations for this year's World Championships in Val d'Isere in February. Alcott is one of Britain's best medal hopes at the 2010 Winter Olympics, in Vancouver, Canada. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Alcott finished 11th in the downhill, only half a second off a medal.
