Host nation Canada captured the World Women's Curling Championship with a 7-4 win over China. Skip Bingyu Wang had engineered two wins over the Canadians earlier in the event but had to settle for silver - the first ever podium finish for Asia. Jennifer Jones took three in the second end to establish a 3-1 lead and the home side never looked back. "I felt we came out great, start to finish," said Jones. "And we haven't been doing that all week." Switzerland's Mirjam Ott held off a comeback from Japan to win 9-7 and clinch the bronze medal in Vernon.
