Best Worlds finish for Scots duo
Sinead and John Kerr
Sinead and John Kerr perform their free dance at the Worlds
British brother and sister duo John and Sinead Kerr recorded their highest ever finish at the World Figure Skating Championships, held in Canada.

The Scottish siblings finished 11th overall behind Bulgaria's Albena Denkova and Maxim Staviski in Calgary.

They achieved a personal best score in the original dance section.

Coming so soon after February's Winter Olympics, none of the gold medal winners took part in the championships, and attendances were low.

There was an upset in the women's competition with favourite Sasha Cohen finishing third after an error-strewn free skate.

Her American compatriot Kimmie Meissner, who is only 16, breezed through to take gold.

Cohen, who has a Winter Olympic silver medal and two silvers and a bronze from the Worlds, is contemplating retiring.

She said: "I do love what I do and the satisfaction I get out of skating.

"But skating is not what it used to be. It is disheartening to skate to half-empty arenas.

"It makes it less rewarding when they (the fans) are not there."

Switzerland's Stephane Lambiel took the men's title and China dominated the pairs event with Pang Qing and Tong Jian taking gold ahead of Zhang Dan and Zhang Hao.
