Britain's Chemmy Alcott fell foul of the FIS' regulations |
Great Britain's Chemmy Alcott has been disqualified from the women's combined after the first slalom run because her skis broke strict FIS regulations. The 22-year-old's skis were deemed to be too narrow, as they were 0.2mm short of the required 60mm.
"Chemmy is disappointed but her performance wasn't great anyway and these things can happen," said British ski coach Christian Schwaiger.
Alcott will now focus on the super-G which takes place on Sunday.
Schwaiger blamed a factory error for the mistake.
Alcott had been lying in 29th spot in the combined after a solid first run and was expected to improve on that during the rescheduled downhill section.
She has already exceeded expectations at the Games by claiming a superb 11th place in the women's downhill.
