US police have charged five Indiana Pacers players and several Detroit Pistons fans after a mass brawl erupted during a match on 19 November. Pacers team-mates Jermaine O'Neal, Ron Artest, David Harrison, Anthony Johnson and Stephen Jackson all face charges of assault and battery.
The National Basketball Association has already punished nine players by handing out lengthy bans.
The fight was sparked by an on-court dispute over a foul.
Detroit's Ben Wallace reacted to a foul by Artest by shoving him and the Pistons' centre responded by pushing him in the face.
The incident then spilt over into the stands where Detroit supporters threw cups and ice at Artest.
John Green, who threw the cup that sparked the melee, was charged with two counts of misdemeanor assault and battery.
The offence carries a maximum penalty of 93 days in jail and a fine of up to 260.
The NBA doled out harsh penalties for the brawl which is the first incident of its kind in basketball.
Artest became the first player to be suspended for almost an entire season for fighting.
Jackson was handed a 30-game suspension and O'Neal a 25-game one. The NBA players' union has already launched an appeal against the bans.
