Peyton Manning tied a career-high six touchdown passes as he inspired the Indianapolis Colts to a 41-9 Thanksgiving Day victory over Detroit. The 28-year-old quarterback connected with Brandon Stockley and Marvin Harrison for three scores apiece.
Manning looks on course to break Dan Marino's record of 48 touchdown passes in a single season.
"It's only about one thing for me and that's trying to win the game," insisted Manning.
The victory over the Lions was the fourth in a row for the Colts, who remain top of the American Football Conference south division.
There was no such luck for Detroit who, as well as losing, saw key player Eddie Drummond break his shoulder blade during a tackle.
In the other game of the holiday season, Dallas Cowboys ended their three-game losing streak with a 21-7 win over Chicago.
Rookie Julius Jones was the star player, with a 150-yard rush forward and two touchdowns.
Cowboys quarterback Drew Henson endured a difficult game in his first career NFL start.
But the Bears wasted a handful opportunities to get points on the board and they slumped to their second straight defeat.
