NFL cashes in with TV deal
The NFL has signed a six-year contract extension worth $8bn with American broadcasters Fox and CBS.

Fox will pay $4.3bn and CBS $3.7bn according to terms of the deal which runs till 2011.

NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue said: "These agreements represent the NFL's premium position as the number one sports and entertainment attraction on television and in stadiums.

"Our goal in the negotiations has been to continue to deliver our games to the widest possible audience.

"The agreements underscore a unique commitment to broadcast television that no other sport has."
