Don left training partner Hayes trailing on the run |
Tim Don claimed his fourth consecutive British triathlon title with victory in the Corus Elite Series event in Wales. The world champion saw off the fellow Englishmen Andrew Johns and Stuart Hayes to win at Bryn Bach Park.
Don said: "It was an awesome victory. AJ and Stu pushed me all the way and they always bring out the best in me."
Don served a three-month ban in 2006 for missing three out-of-competition drug tests but last month had his Olympic eligibility restored on appeal.
The women's title was won by Julie Diben, whose technical strength on the bike saw her build a three-minute lead on a demanding course.
She said: "The corners were tight and fast, which I think made some of the other girls cautious, but was perfect for me, and I'm delighted with the win."
