Don finished 18th in the triathlon at the Athens Olympics |
Tim Don and Julie Dibens will lead England's six-strong triathlon team at the Commonwealth Games next March. Don clinched his place by winning the men's race at Saturday's St Kilda triathlon in Melbourne, which was the second selection event.
Dibens finished as runner-up by just 45 seconds in the women's race.
Will Clarke, in his first season taking part in Olympic distance events, Stuart Hayes, Andrea Whitcombe and Liz Blatchford complete the line-up.
Don said: "It was a tough race but I knew I had to win to guarantee making the team.
"You have got to be in it to win it and I know I'm going to be in Melbourne.
"I've got two more World Cup races this year but then I'll be focussing on the Commonwealth Games.
"I'm really looking forward to racing there. We've got a good team, get on well and there's a really good vibe."
St Kilda was Dibens' first competitive event since the Athens Olympics after which she had two foot operations.
She said: "This has made all the hard work worthwhile. There was a long time this year when I thought my triathlon career could be over.
"It's nice to know I've still got a future and that I can compete at the top level again. It's a very exciting time for me."
Both the men's and women's races take place in Melbourne on 18 March.
