Rushden table tennis player Tim Yarnall says that England can become a world leader in the sport. The English number seven was involved in the under-21s, men's singles and doubles competitions at the English Open in Sheffield. Yarnall told BBC Radio Northampton: "Competition is high, but with the set-up in place, we can be one of the best. "Unfortunately during the crucial years of my career, that set up was perhaps not in place." Yarnall is now combining his appearances in tournaments with studies at Loughborough University. And the Rushden player enjoyed success at the English Open, beating the higher seeded Gilles Michely of Luxembourg 3-1 in the Under 21's category, and Eric Berner of Norway 4-2 in the men's draw. Northampton's Chris Doran was also involved in Sheffield, beating Johan Sondell of Sweden in the under-21's singles draw.
