Chip Peterson and Laura Ann Wilkinson gave the United States their first gold medals at the World Swimming Championships in Montreal. The 17-year-old Peterson, who finished second in the 5km men's open water race on Sunday, claimed the 10km title in one hour 46 minutes 38.1 seconds.
Diver Willkinson followed that by winning the 10m platform gold medal.
The duo's wins moved the US to the top of the medal table with two gold, three silver and a bronze.
